Visitation Teams
- Christ Presbyterian has two-person visitation teams that
stay in touch with the homebound, the ill, and the grieving. The teams
make visits on a monthly or as-needed basis. If you or someone you
know would appreciate a visit, please contact the Church Office at
(704) 392-2116 or by
e-mail.
Hospital
Visitation - Our pastor, the visitation teams, and other
people within the congregation visit those who are hospitalized in our
area’s hospitals. If you or someone you know would appreciate a
hospital visit, please contact the Church Office at (704) 392-2116 or
by
e-mail.
Prayer Chain -
A number of our members have volunteered to be part of the
Christ Presbyterian Church Prayer Chain – a network of people who
share in prayer for those who are struggling with illness, marriage or
family problems, spiritual dilemmas, loss or grief, or other stress
within their lives. If you or someone you know would appreciate being
remembered by the Prayer Chain, please contact the Church Office at
(704) 392-2116 or by
e-mail.
NOTE: Before asking that someone else
receive prayer, please get permission from that person or, where
appropriate, a member of that person’s family.
Homebound
Ministry - Christ Presbyterian Church maintains a list of
those members who are homebound or otherwise unable to attend church
on a regular basis. Throughout the year, our pastor, the visitation
teams, and other people within the congregation visit, send cards, and
deliver gifts to these absent friends. Please help us keep this list
up-to-date by notifying the Church Office, at (704) 392-2116 or by
e-mail, of any
changes of address or of any persons who need to be added.
Homebound Communion -
On the first
Sunday of each month, our elders go out in two-person teams to take the
Lord's Supper to our homebound members and friends. They take
with them portions of the bread and drink from the morning’s Worship
Service. At each residence, the elders conduct a brief service of
scripture and prayer and serve the bread and the cup. As stated in the
Directory for Worship section of our Book of Order, this is “a direct extension of the serving of the gathered congregation” – a
way of including people who would otherwise be excluded from this
important means of participating in Christ as part of this worshiping
community.
If you know someone you believe would like to receive the
Lord's Supper at his or her residence -- whether a private home, a nursing
home, or a retirement center -- please notify the Church Office at
(704) 392-2116
or by
e-mail. If you are an ordained elder and would like to assist,
please let us know that, as well.
